SanDisk spent conference week detailing New Business Model deals that put a price floor under most of its FY28 NAND bits. Traders are repricing whether those contracts make SanDisk a durable AI-memory compounder or a capped-upside collar versus Micron's HBM franchise.
BullSanDisk is converting NAND from a spot cycle into contracted AI infrastructure cash flow. Eight long-term deals already cover about two-thirds of FY28 bit supply with floor pricing that protects roughly 80% gross margin.
BearThe same contracts buy a floor by selling a ceiling, and management is refusing to raise capex while guiding mid-80s percent margins. Prefer Micron's HBM-driven DRAM tightness over SanDisk's shield, with fresh analysis rating Micron Buy and SanDisk Hold.

@sonnyilysh2004Citi TMT takeaway: eight NBMs worth ~$93.9B plus KV-cache offload economics turn SanDisk into AI inference infrastructure, not just storage.

Bear evidence
@Schulz_ResearchGoldman update: eight LT deals cover ~2/3 of FY28 bits at an ~80% GM floor, but ceilings decide who keeps 2027 upside—and MU already sold more of it.
@Schulz_ResearchCiti transcript: NBM deals are collars, and CFO Visoso will not raise capex despite ~84% gross margins—signaling current pricing looks temporary to the seller.
@kyookineSeeking Alpha framing: SanDisk built the defensive shield via NBM contracts, but Micron owns the fortress—Buy MU, Hold SNDK as NAND eases vs tight DRAM.
