- Meta unveiled the Muse Charm pendant at its annual Connect conference, describing it as a dedicated keychain-like device providing rapid access to the Muse AI agent. Zuckerberg said Meta still needs to finalize the finishing material and component layout to ship for the holidays, and did not give a price.
- Meta said that by the end of 2026 there will be over 100 styles of AI glasses, and that it will bring Muse to its smart glasses in the coming months with hands-free activation. It also showed Meta VR Glasses at $1,299, its first VR device since the $299 Quest 3S in 2024.
- Muse rocketed to the top of Apple's App Store, eclipsing ChatGPT. Meta shares rose 4.5% on Thursday and are up more than 25% since the company announced Muse earlier in September.
- The pendant is a new device category with unproven demand. Zuckerberg's stated goal is to end Meta's reliance on Apple for distribution, a matter that became acute after Apple's 2021 privacy policy change limited ad targeting for app developers.
- OpenAI is expected to show its long-awaited hardware product, reportedly a hockey puck-like speaker, at its DevDay conference the week after Connect. Meta got to the consumer AI device market first.
