META CapEx fear keeps the multiple cheap

X discussion14 days ago

Meta Platforms cleared a major youth-safety legal overhang with a settlement of up to about $17B paid over ten years, and traders now treat that risk as largely behind the stock. The live fight is whether Meta's $130–145B 2026 AI CapEx — which crushed Q2 free cash flow and turned 28% revenue growth into a 13% earnings drop — is a buyable discount or a real earnings destroyer. Shares hover near $617, well below the $791 52-week high, while bulls argue the AI business is still priced near zero.

BullMeta is mispriced after CapEx panic the same way Alphabet was before the spend looked justified. Competitive models plus 3.3B monthly users and an AI cloud buildout leave the AI business valued near zero inside a $1.5T market cap.

BearMeta's CapEx bill is the real overhang, not the settlement. Zuckerberg himself put a couple hundred billion dollars of AI misspending on the table, and that invoice is what turned 28% revenue growth into a 13% earnings decline and near-zero free cash flow.
