BioNTech cancer vaccine setback sends U.S.-listed shares lower

BioNTech is ending its mid-stage study of autogene cevumeran in high-risk colorectal cancer patients after an independent committee determined the treatment was unlikely to help them live longer.
A separate BioNTech study involving pancreatic cancer patients will continue, limiting the setback to the colorectal cancer program.
BioNTech's U.S.-listed shares fell 7.5% following the trial decision.
