AST SpaceMobile partners with Rakuten for Japan satellite-to-cell launch

Rakuten Group plans to debut a direct-to-mobile satellite communications service in Japan as early as this year through AST SpaceMobile.
The service is designed to support video calls and compete directly with SpaceX's Starlink system.
