Amazon raises US operations minimum pay to $20 an hour
  • Amazon raised minimum hourly pay for eligible full-time U.S. operations workers by $1, bringing the new minimum wage to $20 per hour. The company also unveiled 'Day 1 Financial,' a benefit giving qualified employees and their families lifetime access to low-cost banking services through First Tech Federal Credit Union.
  • Reports are floating an Anthropic IPO at a $2 trillion valuation as early as October, following a confidential S-1 filing earlier this summer. Anthropic's annualized revenue run rate cleared $47 billion in May and reached $65 billion in July.
  • Amazon carried its Anthropic position at $190.4 billion as of June 30, split between $97.9 billion in convertible notes and $92.5 billion of nonvoting preferred stock, implying roughly 19.7% ownership against a $965 billion valuation. A $2 trillion IPO price would value that stake near $394 billion.
  • Anthropic pledged more than $100 billion of AWS spend over 10 years and up to 5 gigawatts of capacity, with Amazon investing $5 billion and leaving the door open for an additional $20 billion contingent on commercial milestones.
